DUA FOR AFTER ADHAN

Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa’imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adta

Translation: O Allah! The Lord of this complete call and the Lord of the everlasting prayer, grant Wasila (which is a level of Paradise) to Muhammad (Rasulullah Sallallaho Taala Alaihi Wasallam) and grant him virtue and make him reach the position of Mahmood which you have promised him; surely you do not go against your promise.

In the Hadith Sharif: – It is written that whoever on hearing the sound of Azan, recites this Dua, his sins will be forgiven.

In the Hadith Sharif, it is written that whoever answers the Muezzin, there is heaven for him. Husne-Lahaza, one should answer the Muezzin, that is, he should keep saying whatever the Muezzin says, but in response to Hayyaalasala and Hayyaalalfalah, he should say La Hawla Wala Quwta Illa Billah.

Description of the adhan and its reward

The reward of Azan has been mentioned a lot in Hadiths. In one Hadith, the Prophet said that if people knew how much reward there is in saying Azan, they would fight with swords.

Issue: Azan is from the Shi’are Islam that if the people of a city or village or locality stop giving Azan, then the king of Islam should force them and if they do not listen, then he should fight.

Method of Azan and its words, place of Azan

Stand in the Kharij mosque, high place facing the Qibla, put fingers in the ear holes or keep hands on the ears and say Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. Both of these together make one Kalima. Then pause for a while and then say Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. Both of these together make one Kalima. Then say Ashhadu Allah Lailaha Illallah twice. Then say Ashhadu Anna Muhammadr Rasulullah twice. Then turn your face towards the right and say Haiyya al-Salah twice. Then turn your face towards the left and say Haiyya al-Fallah twice. Then turn your face towards the Qibla and say Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. This too is one Kalima. Then say La ilaha illallah once.

For which prayers should the Azan be given?

Masala: The five times of Farz Namaaz and Jumma is also among them. When the prayers are offered in the mosque on time with Mustahab Jamaat, then Azan is a Sunnah Mu’akkida for them and its ruling is similar to Wajib that if Azan is not said then all the people present there will be sinners.

Masala: It is Makrooh to offer Jamaat in the mosque without Azan and Iqamat.

Ruling on Azan:

Masala: If a person prays at home and does not say Azan, then there is no harm because the Azan of the mosque there is sufficient for him, but saying it is Mustahab.

When should Azan be said?

Masala: Azan should be said after the time has come. If it is said before the time, then it should be said again when the time has come.

Time of Azan:

Masala: The time of Azan is the same as the time of Namaz.

Masala: The Mustahab time of Azan is the same as the Mustahab time of Namaz.

Issue: If Azan was given in the beginning and Namaaz in the end, then also Sunnat Azan was performed.

In which prayers there is no Azan?

Issue: There is no Azan for any prayer except the Farz Namaaz. Neither in Witr nor in Janaza nor in Eidain nor in Nazr nor in Sunna Rawatib nor in Taraweeh nor in Istisqa nor in Chaasht nor in Kusuf and Khusuf nor in Nafl prayers.

Ruling on Azan for women:

Issue: It is Makruh Tahrimi for women to say Azan and Iqamat. If they say it, they will be sinful and their Azan should be said again.

Issue: Whether women offer their Ada Namaaz or Qaza, Azan and Iqamat are Makruh for them, even though they offer it in congregation, although their congregation itself is Makruh.

Rule on Azan for children, blind people without wudu:

Masla: Azan for a sensible child, a blind person and without wudu is correct but it is Makrooh to say Azan without wudu.

Masla: Azan for Zuhr Namaaz is not allowed in the city on Friday. Even if the person offering Zuhr is a disabled person on whom Juma is not compulsory.

Who says Azan?

Masla: Azan should be said by someone who knows the times of Namaaz and if he does not know the times, then he is not worthy of the reward that is meant for the Muazzin.

Masla: If the Muazzin is also the Imam, then it is better.

Ruling on talking during Azan:

Masla: Talking during Azan is prohibited. If you talk, then say Azan again.

Ruling on Lahan in Azan:

Masla: Lahan in Azan is haraam i.e. giving Azan in the form of a song or saying Allah with Mad along with Alef or stretching the Alif of Akbar and saying Akbar or stretching the B of Akbar and making it Akbar, all these are haraam, however it is better to say Azan in a good and loud voice.

Masla: If the Azan is slow then Azan should be said and the first jamaat should not be Jamaat-e-Ula.

Masla: Azan should be said on the Miznah or should be said in Kharij-e-Masjid. Azan should not be said in the mosque.

Response to Azan: When you hear the Azan, it is ordered to reply i.e. the Muazzin

Whoever says the Kalima, the listener should also say the same Kalima but in response to Hayya al-Salah and Hayya al-Al-Flah, say Lahaul wa lla quwwata illaha billah and it is better that both are said or rather extended to this extent Masha Allahu kan wa malam yasha lam yakun.

Issue: In response to Assalatu Khairum Minan Naum, say Sadaqat and Barita and without any delay.

All activities should be stopped when Azan is being given.

Issue: The Junub should also respond to Azan. Women in menstruation and Nifaas, those who listen to Khutba, those who offer Namaz-e-Janaza and those who are busy in sexual intercourse.
